DIY Optimization E-book – Update

As some of you already know, I have been working on an e-book with the aim to help webmasters and website owners improve and maintain their sites better. The goal of this book is to consolidate information about maintaining a site as well as providing you with some information about the various areas involved in optimizing and maintaining a site.

This book entitled “DIY OPTIMIZATION” is something that I have been working on for some time and as you may already know, my subscriber forms have been advertising that.

This book will cover various topics including caching, optimizing images, database optimization and more. Originally it was simply going to show you a few tips, however it has evolved since and this is why it is taking some time.

Out of the few 100 people that have currently subscribed for this book 3 people have immediately un-subscribed with various reasons, but with the common thread that I shouldn’t be offering something that doesn’t exist.

I am not going to apologize for offering something that isn’t available yet because I personally feel that their is nothing wrong with marketing something prior to releasing or completing it. The important part is ensuring you deliver on your promise which is something that I fully intend to do.

The book currently does exist, all chapters have some content filled in, however it takes time to write something that has to be understood by the average website owner. It has to be informative as well as providing you with practical steps that can improve your site and produce positive results. It also has to provide alternatives because we all know that there is no magic single solution for everyone. This also means that I have to test it and ensure it works as expected.

I want to thank those that have subscribed and are patiently awaiting this book and I look forward to releasing this mammoth task that I have set myself.

I will be honest, I thought it would be pretty simple, but there is a whole lot more work to do before I can release it.

Are you planning to release the ebook when completed? You might want to check out Nina Amir’s, “How to Blog a Book”. The ebook version is better because the publisher used a type size that is only suitable for the fine print in contracts.

Certainly am Richard and it will be Free. The reason I have subscriber forms up is because I want to know how much interest there is and clearly there is plenty of it which motivates me to write it as well as being very careful about it because I want it to be easy to understand but at the same time provide some information about the reasons. Lets face it, no body likes doing something for the sake of doing it, however with some reasoning and understanding of the concept, people are more inclined to take some action.

    Hey Matthew.
I don’t mind you taking your time to release the e-book. It seems that you’re really working to deliver comprehensible information.
    So, no need to apologize.
